One conversation. Four sessions. Your whole self in the room.
There is a conversation coming. This work develops who you are when the pressure arrives — not just what you plan to say.
You've thought through the arguments. You know what you want to say. And still — something closes down, or holds you back. You don't connect. The other person surprises you and you lose the thread. You walk out dissatisfied, having expressed a fraction of what you intended.
This isn't a preparation problem. It's a whole-person problem. And for some leaders, it's also an inquiry: into what happens to you under pressure, and who you become when something real is at stake. Four sessions is enough to boost your leadership presence.
Most conversation coaching tries to build new capacities from scratch. This work is for mature professionals and makes the capacities you already have available under pressure. The cognitive clarity, the relational attunement, the groundedness — these are capacities already in you. They just go offline the moment things get real.
Four sessions is not a long time. It is exactly the right amount of time to bring your whole self to the table — not just your talking points.
Some leaders come with a specific conversation ahead. Others come because they have begun to notice a pattern — a recurring quality in their high-stakes moments that no amount of preparation has changed. The work holds both.
Are you leading from whole-brain presence, or has your left hemisphere hijacked the conversation — reducing the other person to an obstacle, and the relationship to a problem to be solved? We examine where control masquerades as clarity.
Every difficult conversation carries three simultaneous layers: what happened, what it means about you, and what it means about the relationship. Leaders who navigate all three — without collapsing any of them — change outcomes. We build the structural skill to hold difficulty without losing the relationship.
The body is the most honest data in the room. The shallow breath, the locked jaw, the narrowed focus — these signal to everyone present that something has shifted, whether you know it or not. We work to ensure that when pressure rises, your nervous system becomes your greatest asset.
Feelings and needs are not soft data — they point to the root of every conflict and every resolution. We work with NVC not as a script but as a somatic practice: learning to sense what is true for the other person before formulating a response.
Every element is in service of one outcome: you, fully present, in the conversation that matters. By the time the rehearsal session ends, you will have already been in the conversation once. The real one will feel familiar. The following outline is typical but could be modified to address your specific needs.
We map the conversation, the relationship, and the stakes. You've completed the deep intake questionnaire before we meet, designed to begin the reflective work before our first session. The pre-call determines whether we're a fit and sets the frame for our work together. Enter here as an upgrade from the online paid coach-reviewed Assessment.
We clarify what you actually want, not just what you fear. We introduce the quadrant framework and identify your dominant and underdeveloped modes. We examine the story you're currently telling about the other person, and where it may be working against you. Enter here as an upgrade from the Assessment with 1-hour of coaching.
Between sessions, plan to set aside an equal amount of time — approximately 75 minutes — for assigned reading, reflection exercises, additional check-ins, and email correspondence with your coach. The work that happens between sessions is where much of the integration occurs.
Somatic mapping of what happens in your system when you anticipate pressure. We identify the physiological signals, such as shallow breath, clenched jaw, or narrowed focus, that arise before you are consciously aware of them. We develop regulation tools you can access in a live conversation. NVC applied to your specific situation — learning to sense the other person's underlying needs.
A written summary of key insights and tools from this session will be sent within 48 hours. You'll be asked to practice specific regulation tools in low-stakes situations before Session 3, and to correspond with your coach as things arise.
Integration and live practice. We apply the Difficult Conversations framework to your specific scenario — working all three layers simultaneously: what happened, what it means about you, what it means about the relationship. Guided visualization or role play of key themes. You leave this session having already been in the conversation once — with your full self present.
After the conversation happens, we meet to harvest what occurred. What landed, what didn't, what you'd do differently — and what the experience revealed about your patterns as a leader. This session often produces the most durable insights of the entire engagement. If you came to this work as much to understand something about yourself as to prepare for a specific outcome, it is frequently the most important session of all.
Not every executive is ready for this kind of work. The leaders who get the most from this process share a particular orientation: they want to show up fully, not just win. Some are preparing for a specific conversation. Others have mastered the professional skills and are now more interested in what's underneath — the patterns that surface under pressure that strategy alone has never touched.
This engagement is for you if...
"The hardest conversations are the ones where something real is at stake — not just logistically, but in terms of who you are as a leader and how you want to move through difficulty."
A contained engagement with a clear beginning, middle, and end — and a specific conversation as its north star. Whether you come to prepare, to understand a pattern, or both, the structure holds. Plan for roughly double the session time in total commitment, including between-session reading, reflection exercises, and correspondence with your coach.
Enterprise procurement protocols and corporate-sponsored invoicing are supported.
A limited number of packages are offered each quarter to preserve the quality of each engagement.
Many clients who complete this engagement choose to continue working together in a longer container. That conversation can happen after the debrief.
Longer programs — 3 and 6-month engagements →Prepared Presence is designed around one conversation. But the patterns that surface in that work — the nervous system habits, the narrative tendencies, the relational blind spots — often point to something worth addressing more systematically. These programs create the container for that.
This program is suited to leaders who have completed Prepared Presence and want to consolidate the work, or to those entering a sustained period of high-stakes leadership who choose ongoing partnership with their coach.
This program is for leaders in transition, those preparing for sustained pressure over a period of months, or those who recognize a deep pattern and are ready to address it comprehensively.
"Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space lies our freedom and our power to choose our response."
— Viktor Frankl
This work is about expanding that space — and inhabiting it. So that when the moment arrives, you are already there. Not performing readiness. Present.
